6) Give the 76ers an overall grade for the draft

Dante Nelson: What people may not realize is the behind the scenes stuff Hinkie did. He not only got quality players, but kept the team flexible to get more. He also cleaned up some of the mess that previous Sixers heads made. In considering all of this, I give an “A”.

Spencer Layman: With the trades they made, the players they selected and the potential upside, it’s hard to give them a bad grade. I’ll just go with a B+, that’s a higher grade than I’ve ever gotten.

Curt Jenkins: Potentially I give Hinkie a B+. Not an A because his first rounders won’t make an immediate impact. The masterful trade of acquiring Saric, a second round pick in 2015 and a first rounder in 2017 for one player is great.  I know the fan base wanted the highlight names but it wasn’t in the cards for us. Embiid could be a potential “Franchise”caliber big man. I’m being optimistic but all this had to pay off in the future for Hinkie. The array of talent acquired in the second round is nothing but first round talent because of the depth of the draft class. We finished with 8 picks and two future draft picks. Job well done.

Ryan Calpin: If the Sixers 2014 draft class overall grade to me is a B+. I only short them an A because, like I have said, I just wish they were able to compete this year. Also I think that they should have tried to add some shooters. The Sixers struggled shooting last year, and unless MCW gets a lot better in the jump shot area, will struggle again this year. But overall a very gutsy, well orchastrated chain of moves by Sam Hinkie and the 76ers organization.
