The diminutive Casper Ware was arguably the 76ers’ best player during their run to the Orlando Summer League championship.
He only played in nine games during his hectic stint in Philly last year and was underwhelming in a reserve role. When he got to Orlando for Summer League action, Ware was impressive.
He led the 76ers with averages of 19.2 points and 5.2 assists during his five games. He started every game at point guard and ran the team well, shooting 36 percent from distance and 88 percent at the free-throw line.
In the first game of the summer, Pierre Jackson ruptured his achilles which presumably ended his season. That means there are plenty of backup point guard minutes to go around behind incumbent starter Michael Carter-Williams. Ware should see a chunk of them.
