Reason: Mentor Our Young Front Court
Jermaine O’Neal is way past his glory days, but he’s still been a half decent center in his past few seasons. O’Neal averaged 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds last season for the Warriors, decent numbers for a player in his 18th season in the NBA. He can only play around 20 minutes per game, but the 35-year-old has so much experience that can help mentor young Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid. Not to mention, Embiid and O’Neal share the same agent — Arm Tellem — which is interesting. Bringing O’Neal over would be cheap — not like the 76ers have to worry about money — and would provide extremely valuable mentorship for the young front court of the 76ers.
