A 76ers Poem: ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas

facebooktwitterreddit

‘Twas nights before the Holiday, and we’re almost through December,

And the 76ers had 9 players dressed against Orlando at the Amway Center;

An uncanny year, as Sixer guard play could use some direction,

Hollis Thompson – sidelined with an upper respiratory infection?

St. Nicholas came early to bring us win number four,

Still, Furkan Aldemir missed another game due to a plantar fasciitis, you sure??

And, yes they again scored 90 and more!

The Sixers need more talent through Hinkie’s concoctions,

Wroten is solid, but can’t be the team’s single best option;

… When out on the court there arose such a clatter,

I sprang NBA Launch to see what was the matter;

It was Michael Carter-Williams filling up the stat sheet in a flash,

Not in another loss, but with meaningful stats;

The Sixers are being accused of a massive tanking infraction,

Aldemir’s line — 2 points and 2 rebounds in 10 minutes of action!

When what to my wondering eyes did appear?

Shved in Houston shedding a tear?

Looking ahead Davies’ time would have been low,

Because Jerami Grant may become a very good pro,

And Hinkie’s genius moved Andrei Kirilenko;

The Sixers are giving fringe teams the holiday hope of hedging their bets,

As Hinkie receives the rights to swap second-rounders with the Nets;

And Santa Hinkie has much more in his acquisition pocket,

With second-round picks from the Magic, Warriors, Pelicans, and Rockets!!!

The 76ers have 14 second-round picks over the next six years,

Here is a Christmas list that may produce many cheers;

Four in ’15 from Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, and Golden State,

And one in ’16 from the Denver Nuggets plate;

Keith Pompey has broken down the Hinkie attack,

The bundle of toys he has flung on his back;

It won”t come next year or in a hurry,

But fans will soon twinkle! our dimples, how merry!

Brett Brown springs from the bench, to his team gives a whistle,

And away they all defend like the down of a thistle.

A basketball junkie who is doing it right

“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
