Power Forward

Playing in the relatively obscure shadows of Latvia, it is no small surprise that few fans outside of the country know Kristaps Porzingis. But, scouts and general managers know him quite well. Well enough in fact that Porzingis could be a high lottery selection. He performed so well for Baloncesto Sevilla at the Liga ACB that he was selected as a touring “all-younger” MVP.

Thee NCAA tourney shadow is so large that few may be able to see that he is actually an adept ball handler who can bring the ball up court.  He can also run the wing on a fast break and finish with an interior offense. The pro scouts and GM’s are interested and impressed with his excellent potential to rebound and many realize this potential workhorse is NBA bound. He averaged six points and three rebounds in ACB, while he had 11.6 points and 10 rebounds during the 2013 Fiba U18 European Championships. The huge question is trying to figure out if he’s the next Andrea Barhnani, or something completely different.
