Tankadelphia is in full effect once again this year for the Sixers. After another bad, but somewhat promising, season the Sixers are once again in prime position to land themselves another young stud in this year’s NBA draft.
The lottery hasn’t been all that kind to them over the years (the Winless for Wiggins movement didn’t quite pay off), but there is still hope in Philadelphia that the Sixers can be in prime draft position and find that “answer” they’ve been searching for. Hindsight is always 20/20 but is interesting to see what the Sixers team would look like if we went back in time with the knowledge we know now. We will look at the every first-round pick the Sixers had in the past five years, grade the pick, and evaluate who they missed out on.
THE RULES:
- The picks are ONLY first-rounders that they obtained before the draft. This excludes any players the Sixers traded for during the draft (i.e. Nerlens Noel), but does include first-round picks the Sixers originally had then traded away (i.e. Elfrid Payton). Players traded by the Sixers on draft day will have an asterisk next to their name.
- The “Players They Should’ve Taken” includes ONLY players selected after the Sixers pick. (Ex. Sixers missing out on Wiggins/Parker would not be applicable since they were drafted ahead of the Sixers’ third overall selection).
- Although we must have an understanding on why they made the original selection, we will go in with the knowledge of how successful these players have been since their draft day.
