NBA Draft: Centers of Attention for Sixers

Christmas should talk to Cedric Simmons. Not that he won’t be drafted, he likely will. But he will most likely be selected in an unpredictable spot and then try to avoid the path to the D-League and then overseas.

In other words, he needs a comfortable set position on the NBA floor. He elected to stay all four years in the Syracuse program and he capitalized on the chance to develop further. He is terrifically skilled for his size and clogs the middle while grabbing rebounds out of his area. He has a knack for getting garbage baskets every game and he is explosive, but he may not be about to replace most of the starting centers in the NBA.

RC needs to work on his overall game: passing, interior defense, offensive moves, and he needs to develop a shot other than the dunk. All of this must come before he can seriously consider making it in the NBA. Otherwise it’s developmental all the way.
