Point Guard
Scott Wilbekin
The team rounds out it’s roster at a spot with the most need. When the summer league hit this year, the Sixer management was shopping to fill a point guard spot. They signed Pierre Jackson, and also signed Scottie Wilbekin. Scott Wilbekin is more than insurance for the uncertainty of a key position on the 76ers roster. He’s truly in the midst of the competition.
Wilbekin is another long distance shooter who can space the floor for this team. In the summer league, he had a six out of eight form the three point line for the sixers. That is the type of performance that gets you a roster spot. In the debate over the man with the plan, many lose sight of the fact that Sam Hinkie has a good eye for NBA talent, and that Wilbekin could likely be one more in a long line of unheralded talent that included K. J. McDaniels, Isaiah Canaan, JaKarr Sampson, and more.
Wilbekin is the type of prospect who might turn into another role player. But, he could catch lightning in a bottle and be incredibly impressive.
That’s what adds to the Sixer team excitement.
