We asked you guys what you thought about Stauskas being a new version of Manu. Overall, no one was wowed by the idea, but there weren’t too many that were extremely opposed to that comparison, which I found surprising. There was just one who was upset about the comparison.
The rest were fairly on board.
"Yeah I could see him fitting into that role. While not a full blown PG, Stuaskas has some PG skills like Manu does. Sounds like BB doesn’t plan on starting him. – ThaOneNOnly"
Others thought the comparison was only brought up as a product of skin color, and the lack of caucasians in the shooting guard position.
"Well there aren’t many white SGs in the league, and as the unofficial-but-always-applied rule in sports is that you have to compare players to others with the same skill colour only, what other option is out there? Redick? Does Klay count? – Ubrab"
It’s clear that Stauskas has yet to find his way in the NBA, yet to find a system that fits his offensive style correctly. While the Sixers are looking for shooters, it’s possible he could have a lot more freedom and find himself in a Manu-type role this season.
Manu will never have anyone who plays exactly like him, but maybe Stauskas can come close.
