How Is The Point Guard Doing?
Next to the front court, the point guards were most discussed this offseason. With the Sixers not re-signing Ish Smith, and not grabbing DeAngelo Russell in the draft, most of the training camp questions were about the point guard. Signing Kendall Marshall seemed to temporarily answer the questions, but then fans found out he was going to be out for the season opener, all doors and questions were reopened.

At this point, there’s still some question. Isaiah Canaan seems to be a decent option, having scored double digits in several games played in the preseason. An embarrassing steal by Nene Hilario in the first game against Canaan wasn’t the best look, but he’s pulled things together and made himself a candidate to start.
Scottie Wilbekin may end up making the team, somewhat surprisingly after playing great in Summer League and decently in the preseason.
Pierre Jackson looks like he’s finally going to make the Sixers roster, and is another candidate to start, although I don’t think he will be one of the starting five come opening night, as he is also coming off of an injury.
Besides keeping an eye out for who is starting, it should be noted how well they are playing, because when Marshall (who is expected to be the starter when he is healthy) returns, he may find himself not getting the start if the other point guard is doing well enough. You don’t want to interrupt a good thing, so this is a perfect opportunity for one of the guards to make their case to be the starter for the whole season.
