If you could sum up Christian Wood and his preseason in one Vine, it would be this one.
Wood has one of the most inspirational stories of any Sixer that made the roster. Wood went un-drafted this year after failing to keep body fat down, and reportedly had some off the court issues. He found his way to the Sixers, and had to play with a giant chip on his shoulder. He did just that, averaging 6.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game with just 12.6 minutes per game. He shot above 50% throughout the preseason, and made it clear that he’s an asset to the front court.
What’s left to be proved? The ride is far from over for this young player. He proved himself in Summer League, and he proved himself in the preseason, and this former “first round talent” secured a spot on his first NBA roster. The ride is not over. He must prove himself in real games if he wants to continue to be in the NBA, and that should be motivation enough for him to play as hard as he can when he does see the floor.
