Wake Up With The Sixer Sense – Stauskas Probable For Opener
By Josh Wilson
The Philadelphia 76ers took their first loss of the season on Wednesday. Good, they got that out of the way. Now it’s time to look forward to Friday night’s home opener against the Utah Jazz.
Here’s all the news you need to know.
Stauskas probable for home opener — Keith Pompey, Philadelphia Inquirer
"76ers shooting guard Nik Stauskas is listed as probable for Friday night’s home opener against the Utah Jazz at the Wells Fargo Center. The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder missed Wednesday’s 112-95 season-opening loss to the Boston Celtics because of back spasms. Stauskas had been dealing with a stress reaction in his right tibia. “It had nothing to do with his previous injury,” Sixers coach Brett Brown said of Stauskas’ missing the game. “You can see he gets all excited to go play and tried to push himself a little bit to test the previous injury in warmup. And 10 minutes before we were about to go on the floor, we were informed that he couldn’t play.”"
Jahlil Okafor’s debut gives 76ers’ ‘process’ clearer focus than ever before — Sean Deveny
"Yet, for the first time since the Sixers began their teardown three years ago — the most controversial and comprehensive rebuilding project in league history — there was at least a glimpse of where these guys might wind up. There was little cohesion, there was terrible guard play, there were whole chunks of the lineup that probably do not belong in the NBA. But there was this: The frontcourt of rookie Jahlil Okafor and second-year man Nerlens Noel. Their time has begun. Okafor finished with 26 points on 10-for-16 shooting, adding seven rebounds in his debut. It was exactly what scouts promised from him coming out of Duke — a polished, efficient scorer whose footwork was NBA-ready. Noel had 14 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. He, too, delivered what was promised — an athletic big man with good defensive instincts and a work-in-progress offensively."

Okafor’s Debut Dominates Conversation — Brian Seltzer, Sixers.com
"The impression that Jahlil Okafor left in his first professional game was as lasting as it was immediate. During the opening 10 minutes of play at TD Garden on Wednesday, the third overall pick in the June 2015 NBA Draft picked apart the Boston Celtics’ veteran front line , scoring 10 points, grabbing two rebounds, and blocking a pair of shots. About 12 hours after the Sixers arrived back in Philadelphia following their 112-95 loss to the C’s, there was still buzz about the rookie’s debut. “I didn’t sleep long, but I slept well last night,” said Brett Brown, who had the team go through only a light, 50-minute on-court walkthrough at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine on Thursday. “You feel comfort in that I can see what can be.”"
