Dr. J rocks the cradle

Julius Erving, perhaps known better as “The Doctor” or “Doctor J” had so many memorable moments as a Sixer. In today’s game, and with today’s Sixers players, we don’t get as many of these moments that we can cling to for years, so reminiscing on some of these is never a bad thing.

Against the Los Angeles Lakers, Dr. J stole the ball, stormed down the court, taking two huge last steps, while rocking the basketball in his arms back and forth as if it was a baby in a cradle. With grace like that, some would think it was a baby, but then he then slammed the ball in for a huge dunk.

Erving shows up so many times on the top 30 Sixers moments, and this is just a small part of his career. By the time things were all said and done for him, he had averaged 24.2 points per game, and 8.5 rebounds per a game throughout his career. He spent 11 years with the Sixers, and was a part of the great 1983 championship team.

Oh, and by the way, he’s still got it, putting up dunks.

If there’s a more subtle way to tell a team, “look what I can do!” than this cradle rocking dunk, I would like to see it.
