Jerry Colangelo in Philadelphia 76ers organization, Now reports Hinkie Out. Will Bryan Colangelo, his son, Join Dad Once More?

This story appeared on Dec 12, 2015.  Four months later, reports have arisen that Sam Hinkie has stepped down as president and general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers.  This story has been modified to reflect the likelihood of Bryan Colangelo joining his father in Philadelphia.

The name Colangelo carries a lot of clout in the NBA. It’s the name held by the former general manager of the Phoenix Suns, the former owner of those same Phoenix Suns, the former general manager of the Toronto Raptors.  It’s the name held by the former marketing director and scout of the Chicago Bulls.  It’s the name of the former head coach of the Phoenix Suns. The name is associated with the NBA Executive of the Year for 1976, 1981, 1989, 1993, 2005, and 2007.

The name is associated with Jerry Colangelo. But the name is also associated with Bryan Colangelo. And it is that association that suggests the following question:

Now that the Philadelphia 76es Colangelo,  Jerry Colangelo, is on the team payroll, how long before son Bryan Colangelo joins his father?  Well the rumors are already flying

and more rumors

The association is a logical mental exercise.   Jerry and Bryan have a rich and lauded NBA history with the Phoenix Suns, and with the arrival of Jerry Colangelo on board as a consulting “trouble shooter”, is it possible that he might diagnose areas of the team that his son could excel at?

It seems that history of April 16, 2016 has given us our answer.
