2. Allen Iverson In Game 1 Of NBA 2001 Finals
Allen Iverson practically carried the Philadelphia 76ers in 2001 to the NBA Finals. It was a journey that wasn’t supposed to end with Philadelphia in the Finals, but no one told Iverson that. Iverson’s domination didn’t run out once the Sixers got to the Finals, either.
Facing off against Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and the Los Angeles Lakers had the Sixers as the underdogs for this series, but Iverson came out strong in game one. At the end of the game, Iverson had 48 points, six assists and five rebounds. The next highest scorer for Philly had 13 points. Iverson played an exhausting 52 minutes in this game, as it did end up going to overtime.
As far as scoring, Iverson and O’Neal were running stride for stride all game, and O’Neal ended the game with 44 points.
Iverson led the Sixers to a 107-101 win in this game, and it was the only win they would have during the series, as the Lakers took the next four games.
