17. Charles Shackleford 17 Rebounds Off The Bench
Rebounds are one of the most important parts of winning a basketball game. I’m sure if you went back to the beginning of the game, and looked at the results, generally the team with more rebounds wins the game. that’s why Charles Shackleford’s performance on December 18th, 1992 is such a big one.
Although the Sixers did lose this one big time (by 14 points to the Utah Jazz), Shackleford came off the bench and grabbed an outstanding 17 rebounds. Remarkably, seven of those were on offense, and he scored 14 points. A lot of those points were likely second chance putbacks as a direct result of his rebounding. Shackleford played just 26 minutes in this game, but still got a ton done in that time.
Shackleford averaged just under five rebounds per game throughout his career, and spent two seasons with the Sixers.
What was the best part of this performance was that he only played 27 minutes in that game.
