Samuel Dalembert – 23

Samuel Dalembert is a 6’11” Canadien-Haitian center who played 13 season in the NBA, but whose career is most identified with the eight years playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. His NBA career may be over, but he was reported just last week as signing with Shanxi of the Chinese Basketball Association along with shooting guard Jamaal Franklin.

Nicknamed the “Haitian Sensation”, Dalembert was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2001 NBA draft at 26. He remained a Sixer until June 2010, when his discontent with his role on the team persuaded the Sixers to trade the lone Haitian born player to the Sacramento Kings for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes.

“We are excited to add two players in Spencer Hawes and Andres Nocioni who will help us immediately and provide us with additional frontcourt depth,” Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski said in a statement. “Spencer is a young seven-footer who will provide us with versatility at the center position, while Andres will provide us with a tough veteran presence.”

In eight seasons with the Sixers, Dalembert scored 4,710 points and managed to put up a career high 879 points in the 2006-2007 season. Dalembert was more well known for his blocking and rebounding ability, but in his NBA career he scored 6,814 points and shot a very respectable 52.1% in field goals.
