It’s Easy For Philadelphia 76ers To Win When They Score Like An NBA Team

The Philadelphia 76ers have had issues winning games all season, but in every game that they’ve won, they’ve scored at least 100 points.

Welcome to the NBA, Philadelphia 76ers. It only took about 30 games before the team was able to kick it into gear and at least be considered for a few wins here and there, but they’ve finally done it. Winning was never the plan, anyway, but with the addition of Jerry Colangelo, a face in the front office that seems to want to speed up the rebuilding process, he’s brought in a player that can push the pace of the offense, a player that can guide the young guys, and a coach that has experience to help head coach Brett Brown on the bench.

The wins keep coming in, it seems. It’s nothing like the Golden State Warriors and how well they were doing earlier this season, but the Sixers have won three of their last six, and are 3-3 since bringing fast-paced point guard Ish Smith onto their roster. A big 10-point win at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves to welcome Smith back to Philly looked like a real NBA game. The Sixers team worked together well in several aspects, and the Sixers bench played phenomenally. Despite the usual suspects–a poor 3-point percentage and even a fair amount of missed mid-range jumpers–the Sixers played well in the paint and forced a good amount of turnovers, making it possible for them to take the game.

More from Sixers News

This game was the fourth of its kind all season, and it held a similiarity to the three that had preceded it, the amount of points scored.

The Sixers have struggled to get points on the board this season. Their 92.9 points per game so far is dead last in the entire NBA. Heck, the marketing department must have known scoring was going to be a problem before the season started. Papa John’s is 50% off when the Sixers score 90 points or more. Just a few seasons ago, deals like that would have been at least 95 points, and sometimes 100 or more.

100 points has been out of fans minds in most games this season. But in each of the Sixers’ four wins this year, the Sixers have scored 100 points or more, an obvious goal for the team to strive for.

That’s not to say that every single time the Sixers score 100 they win a game. That’s not true, as they’ve scored 100 points or more 11 times this season, but only won four games. An additional two of those 100 point games were within three points or less. The team’s chances definitely increase when they get to 100 points.

Since getting Ish Smith on their roster, the Sixers score 100.7 points per game. Its obvious that that addition to the backcourt is helping the team, and despite the fact that a first overall draft pick would be nice (and is the likely outcome) some more wins, and the glimmer of competing will give a lot of fans, whether they trust The Process or not, some hope for the next few seasons as the team continues to rebuild.

Keep putting up 100-point games, Philadelphia.
