The Philadelphia 76ers struck a last minute deal with the Houston Rockets by trading for center/power forward Joel Anthony and a second round draft pick.
The Philadelphia 76ers decided to come to the trade deadline party after all in a deal that was announced after the 3 P.M. deadline.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski:
Keith Pompey reports that the second round pick that the Rockets are sending belongs to the Denver Nuggets:

This is the second time that nine year NBA veteran Joel Anthony has been traded today. Earlier in the day, he was traded from the Detroit Pistons along with a protected first round pick to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Donatas Motiejunas and Marcus Thornton. From there, the Rockets shipped him to the Sixers and added the second round draft pick for the burden of absorbing his contract.
The addition of Anthony puts the 76ers roster at 16 players therefore someone will have to be released. It is not clear on who that casualty will be but Dei Lynam believes it will eventually be the newly acquired Anthony. A complexity in the rules, however, requires that the acquired player has a roster spot available to him prior to the waiver. So the team will likely be opening a roster spot, however temporarily, in order to complete the trade. The most likely players who might be cut for the time being include Jakarr Sampson, or Kendall Marshall. But, once on the roster, Anthony can be waived and the former Philadelphia 76er can return to the club:
Many 76ers fans thought that General Manager Sam Hinkie lost all his power when the team hired the well respected Jerry Colangelo as the Chairman of Basketball Operations but this is clearly a “Hinkie trade” as he has been known to take on bad contracts in order to acquire assets for the team.

The 76ers did give up the rights to an overseas player to complete the deal. Do not worry 76ers fans, it was not Dario Saric:
This is not a team altering move by any means, but it looks like Hinkie and company worked the phones up until the deadline.
