Guarded Choice

Now the pressure lies at the feet of Jerry Colango’s boy, Bryan Colangelo. He tends to draft big men, front court types who rule the post.Fortunately, the Sixers are facing a draft without much in the way of top tier traditional centers or power forwards, and are not in a position of needing the position.  In fact, when we had analyzed his draft tendencies, he errs on the side of the post role in the draft, where more talented players are selected later and who have remarkable NBA careers while playing the back court.

But the talent level of Ben Simmons is undeniable, and Colangelo has claimed in interviews that he projects Simmons as a point forward from the four.

The history of the Philadelphia 76ers is the back court, having drafted both Collins and Iverson as NBA guards, and both played incredibly well in their NBA careers. Ingram, has everything the Philadelphia 76ers could ask for from a guard selected as the number one pick in the NBA draft.

The Philadelphia 76ers certainly need a wing player – one who can play defense and open up the shooting in the waning minutes of a close game.  Can Ingram be that guy?  If we select him at number one, I believe that he will be.
