Isaiah CANaan Be A Solid CANtributor Next Season

There’s some good
Isiaah Canaan can score in bunches. For a team that had few offensive threats, there were moments in games where Isaiah Canaan was lit. And with few other options, Canaan did provide some offense for the team without relying exclusively on the rookie center at the post.
But for the graphics that illustrate his shooting, one video clip truly shows the potential of Isaiah Canaan on this team. It began as a blowout by the Golden State Warriors against the Philadelphia 76ers. Began, but not how it ended up. In nearly a miraculous finish, the Sixers came back from a huge deficit to tie the score… and here’s how they did it.
The Sixers were down by six , but an Isaiah Canaan Trey from the corner during contact became an AND 1. But notice on the tying play. Notice the steal by Ish Smith began by Isaiah Canaan dogging on the play, popping the ball out for Smith to take the ball to the hoop.
Canaan was that opportunistic shooter. In fact, his 2015-2016 performance places him fourth on the team’s three point shooting list. He was capable of making difficult shots in spite of contact, and delivered on his free throws when he got to the line (83.3% shooting from the foul line).
Canaan’s 176 three pointers this season ranked 15th overall in the NBA, while his 485 three-point attempts stood as the 11th-highest total in the league. Moreso, Canaan’s 3PT field goal total from this past campaign ranked fourth on the Sixers’ all-time list. Kyle Korver set the single-season franchise record during the 2004-2005 slate with 226 treys.
Not only did Canaan have a knack for knocking down three-point field goals, he managed to do so in the face of contact. On seven separate occasions this season, Canaan drew an And-1 from behind the arc (including one glorious moment against the Golden State Warrirors). In each of those instances, he successfully sunk the ensuing free throw. He can be clutch.
