The Philadelphia 76ers deadline of July 17 to learn of Dario Saric’s decision just became very important

July 17 is already an important date to some Philadelphia 76ers fans. You see, to those of us born on this date, it’s a day in the midst of sweltering heat, swimming pools, family vacations, and casual fun, where we gathered together as a family and received gifts.

Well on this July 17, 2016, the Philadelphia 76ers hope that spirit will carry on as they hope one of their own, Dario Saric, will decide to extend of gift of his basketball play to the young and hopeful roster of the Philadelphia 76ers.

In recent weeks, we’ve been fed a constant social media stream of Dario Saric’s overseas performances:

His play would be wonderful to witness in a Philadelphia 76ers jersey.

But it’s the money.  If he returns now, he is still forced to sign a rookie wage scale contract.  Because he was selected twelfth overall by the Orlando Magic, the discount to that choice is far deeper than one might imagine.  According to the CBA101, that rookie pay would be $1,803,400 in 2016 then to $1,884,600 in 2017 then to $1,965,700 in 2018 and finally to 2,708,735 in 2019. By all intents and purposes, Dario Saric’s agent knows that if Saric remains in Turkey another year, he can start Dario off on a $6,000,000 salary/ year to join the NBA hands down.

The “economics” in this case is a fortune.  These rates are gross amounts, and do not reflect the advance used to pay for his buyout.
