Malik Beasley

Florida State missed the NCAA tournament, and as a result, the buzz about shooting guard Malik Beasley did not quite reach the same crescendo of the other guards entering the NBA draft.  He has a 6’5″ size and the notable burst that turned heads during testing and workouts. He can shoot as well, as he knocked down 1.6 3pt shots per game average , while shooting them at 38.7 % accuracy.

But he was mentioned by the folks from Basketball Insiders as having medical concerns. His name has come up a few times, and he had surgery at the end of FSU’s season for a stress fracture in his right leg.

CBS Sports confirmed that he has skipped workouts following the surgery to repair the stress fracture.

Keith Pompey added some details regarding the 198 pound 6’3″ shooting guards medical procedure.  Per Pompey, he had a rod inserted into his shin to repair to the injury on April 19. The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder is expected to be ready to play in time for next month’s summer leagues.

Initially a top 20 prospect, his inability to work out for team could drop this young man to the 24 or 26 spot, where Philadelphia insiders believe he would be a true steal.
