Medical Flags Take Center Stage In 2016 NBA Draft

Malcolm Brogdon
Virginia’s 6’5″ 215 pound star guard Malcolm Brogdon has had questions concerning his foot since injuring it in 2012, and then playing on it for three games afterward. That type of stress on an injured foot did not help his recovery. In fact, it led to his being red-shirted the following year.
Brogdon is not the highlights reel type by his own admission. He’s a “mudder”, a guy who simply places his team in a position to win. It’s enough to find success as a group for Brogdon.
"“I’m not flashy. I’ll do nice things on the floor, but I’m not going to do the really impressive dunk or make the really impressive block. I think that’s what fans enjoy most about coming to basketball games, but that’s not what I provide night in, night out. I help my team win,” Brogdon said. “That’s overall what I do best. If you watch me play, I’m usually going to be on the winning team. Whether it’s scoring enough points, or rebounding enough or guarding the best player on the other team, I’m gonna do what it takes to win.””"
He is a versatile player, one who can play either point or shooting guards to help his team. He can also play tough, once colliding with teammate London Perrantes causing three stitches above his eye. He returned to the game after being sewn, and finished the game.
While his foot rehabilitation required a rather long time, his utility in the back court and his workhorse mentality would make Brogdon an intriguing prospect late in round one.
