DeMar DeRozan
DeMar DeRozan is a very good player. DeRozan also showed in this year’s playoffs that he has a bit of a tendency to come up short when it matters most, putting up some really horrific shooting displays in the Eastern Conference Finals this year.
More from Free Agency
- Grade the Deal: 76ers match Jazz’s wily offer sheet, keep Paul Reed
- Grade the Deal: 76ers sign free agent Mo Bamba, retain Montrezl Harrell
- Philadelphia 76ers add center depth by signing Mo Bamba
- This stunning free agency slip could doom the 76ers next season
- 5 best remaining free agents the 76ers should target
Put all of that aside, though, and DeRozan really is a good player, quite possibly worthy of the max deal. Last season he averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. He does it all on the court.
That’s why he opted out of his current contract with the Raptors, making him a free agent this summer. But just because he opted out does not mean he plans on leaving Toronto, where he has spent his entire career up to this point.
DeRozan has indicated that he has no intentions to leave Toronto, and that he would like to do what he’s set out to do since they drafted him — win a title.
Even if the Sixers could somehow get a meeting with DeRozan, it would be a waste of time. He’s going back to Toronto, and I would be shocked if he even listens to deals from any other team in the NBA this summer. It’s going to take something really remarkable to get him to leave the Raptors.
