Jerryd Bayless

Bayless isn’t all that exciting, but he’s certainly energetic when he’s on the court. He’s not a long term starting solution by any means, but he gives the Sixers someone who knocked down 44% of his threes last season and has been an excellent offensive spark plug of the past couple of seasons. Whether or not his three-point percentage remains that high will obviously determine his value in Philly, but his ability to get points off the ball while still possessing a quick first step off the dribble is a nice combination.

He’s a smart passer who doesn’t try and do too much with the basketball, and has the spot-up shooting touch indicative of somebody who could slide seamlessly into the rotation alongside Ben Simmons and the Sixers’ bigs. Bayless poured in 10 points per game last year on a Bucks team that was wayward on the offensive side of the ball, and the fact that he’s still 27 years of age makes him someone else who could still develop and give the Sixers a rotational staple long term, even if it’s not always as a starter.

Defensively, while he’s limited athletically, Bayless’ aggressiveness is at the forefront of his game. He runs around the court with impressive vigor and seems consistently determined to operate to the highest level possible in whichever niche he’s placed into. He’s not an extraordinary player, but he gets the job done and fills a void with a veteran voice and a prime motor.
