With spacing still an issue for the Sixers and their lack of point guard depth a noted problem, the younger of the Curry brothers could provide a viable addition with benefits in both aspects.

After spending the first couple of seasons of his career as a little-known D-Leaguer with minimal NBA experience, Seth Curry finally received a chance to emerge from his brother’s shadow as a legitimate player in his own right. With the Sacramento Kings’ backcourt in shambles and his opportunities therefore surprisingly bountiful, especially towards the tail end of the season, Curry produced at a level that far exceeded the $1 million contract he was signed on.

More from Free Agency

Now, after averaging a shade under 7 points per contest in 15 minutes of play, the youngest of the Curry brothers is searching for a more lucrative deal in a free agency period that has been characterized by seemingly excessive deals. The Philadelphia 76ers, with obvious holes still left in their rotation and an extremely lacking free agent haul thus far, should be at the forefront of teams looking to pursue him.

The Sixers, who have plenty of cap space to burn, can likely offer up a sizable salary by role player standards, and attain someone who could play legitimate minutes either on the bench or in the starting rotation, at times, next season.
