Youth
A lot of focus has been going towards the Sixers adding veterans as of late, and for good reason, but that shouldn’t downplay the benefits of building a rotation with as many productive, young pieces as possible. Within reason, keeping the roster young and composed of players who can contribute not only now but down the road is a intelligent route to take, especially for a team that is still a few years away from winning with any sustained regularity like Philadelphia is.
Curry is still just 25 years of age and still getting acclimated to the NBA game. He has numerous strides he’s still capable of making, and could be a legitimate role player for the foreseeable future in the NBA. He has proven his ability to score the ball and play within a system, even more impressive considering he was able to do so under the floundering leadership and locker room dynamic in Sacramento. If he’s able to handle an entire season with the Kings, the Sixers’ lack of veteran leadership at the moment shouldn’t be too much of an inhibitor for his success if he was to don a Phillly uniform. Brett Brown has been placed under a much more accepting culture than George Karl was in California’s capitol, and there’s no reason why Curry wouldn’t find plenty success under it given the situation.
As an excellent fit on the court with the a mature and well-composed attitude, there’s not going to be too many better fits in terms of both youth and character from the Sixers’ perspective. Curry is someone who is willing to work hard to carve out his own niche in the league, and an opportunity to do so in Philadelphia would likely be one he could be excited for.
