Joel Embiid

Some people are more excited to see the long-awaited debut of Joel Embiid more than anyone else this season and for good reason.

Drafted third overall in the 2014 NBA draft, the former Jayhawk nearly averaged a double double in points and rebounds to go along with over 2.5 blocks per game in his lone season at Kansas.

Embiid sat out his rookie season due to a broken bone in his right foot and was expected to make his debut last season before breaking the same bone again, sidelining him for the duration of the 2015-16 NBA season.

Although he is not expected to play the second legs of back to back sets to start this season, he is expected to be fully healthy. The latest buzz around Philadelphia is that Embiid could be better than advertised and that he looks very ready for the season to begin.

Regardless of what happens to Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel, having Embiid’s 7-foot-5.75  wingspan protecting the rim bodes well for the Sixers defense. The biggest thing to keep an eye on with Embiid aside from his health, is whether or not his conditioning is ready for the minutes that he is going to receive this season.
