Keep It Simple Sir
So it has to be something… simple. I think shooting accuracy was a big player in the performances of the teams. I think assists is a big player in the performances of teams. I also think that three-point accuracy plays a huge part. Finally, I think rebounds is the final piece. Let’s test this simpler version of measure:
So we know that shooting accuracy was already tracked in the previous slide. The Golden State Warriors shot at a 48.7 percent clip, while the Philadelphia 76ers shot at a 43.1 percent clip. The Warriors were best in the NBA, while the 76ers were 29th of 30 teams.
Assists are another huge advantage of the Golden State Warriors. They clocked in at 2373 for the season, good for first by a mile, while the Philadelphia 76ers logged in 1765 assists, good for 20th in the NBA.
In three point shooting accuracy, the Warriors shot with 41.6 percent (1st) accuracy from long range, while the 76ers shot with much less impressive 33.9 percent (24th) from that range.
In rebounds, the Golden State Warriors surrendered just 3599 rebounds, good for 15th best in the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers, conversely, gave up 3900 rebounds, worst in the league.
This seems to track more closely to NBA results. Poor teams rank poorly by their inability to rebound, while the upper ranks of the NBA are define by assists and shooting accuracy.
So improvement in these four areas should result in a dramatic improvement of wins. What do the new players bring to the team?
