The Philadelphia 76ers look a lot different heading into next season than they did at the start of the 2015 campaign, with a handful of rookies joining the fold alongside Bryan Colangelo’s first veteran signings as president of basketball operations.

The Philadelphia 76ers endured a great deal of change during their first offseason under Bryan Colangelo, with the proverbial fruits of Sam Hinkie’s labor ready to join the rotation alongside a fresh batch of veteran talent that could help the Sixers make some considerable strides during the upcoming campaign.

The dynamic of their rotations has been entirely changed with another elite prospect to throw into the mix underneath the rim in Joel Embiid, while Ben Simmons and Dario Saric breath new life into a power forward position that was underwhelming at times during the Hinkie era. The Sixers have also brought in a trio of new guards in Sergio Rodriguez, Gerald Henderson, and Jerryd Bayless who give them a sense of legitimacy on the perimeter that they have lacked in years past, alongside with an outside scoring punch that has been nonexistent as of late.

With all the change and a hefty load of uncertainty surrounding Philly from a rotational standpoint heading into next season, gauging the best players on the roster and how they’ll mold into Brett Brown’s scheme can be fairly difficult. Whether or not Embiid is able to stay on the floor for extended periods of time will determine the malleability of their loaded frontcourt rotation, while the strides Rodriguez has made overseas will be crucial in resolving how to distribute playing time alongside Bayless and TJ McConnell at the point.

The Sixers have a lot of unknowns heading into the 2016-17 season, but that doesn’t make deciphering the team’s best players any less relevant. How the roster will stack up with the rest of the teams in the league, as well as how many improvements the team makes from an individual developmental standpoint, largely hinges on how well their core pieces perform.

Carl Landry, as somebody clearly on the roster bubble and not a certainty whatsoever moving forwards with an increasingly immanent frontcourt logjam, will not be included.
