Does NBA Have More Chapters for Kendall Marshall?
By Bret Stuter
Finding the right fit
Marshall’s NBA season began with the Phoenix Suns in 2012, where he was drafted 13th by the Phoenix Suns to replace Steve Nash. But Marshall had injured his wrist, which negated his ability to work out. He was a point guard with a sweet pass. However, a lack of athleticism hurt his defense and a lack of shooting skills hurt his offense. Ultimately, he found himself buried on the depth chart. Before the start of the 2013-2014 season, Marshall was traded to the Washington Wizards and subsequently cut.
His career might have ended there, but he was picked up by the injury depleted Los Angeles Lakers. It was his time with the Lakers which rejuvenated his career. He played 54 games, and started in 45. He scored 8.0 points per game, while handing out 8.8 assists.
It was the Lakers intention to cut Marshall, and after he cleared waivers, to re-sign him to a team friendlier deal for the next season. But the plan was foiled by the Milwaukee Bucks, who claimed Marshall for themselves. Once there, however, Marshall only played in 28 games. In January 2015, he injured his right ACL and would be lost for the rest of the 2014-2015 season.
