The Celtics from 2013 to 2016 Conclusion

The Celtics ended the 2014-15 season with 40 wins and 42 losses. While the Celtics did manage to make the playoffs this season, they lost all four games in the first round to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Helped by improvements from Avery Bradley and trading Marcus Thornton and the Cavaliers’ 2016 first round for Isaiah Thomas at the trade deadline, was enough for them to make the playoffs in a bad Eastern Conference. The Celtics added two players in the 2014 draft.

Marcus Smart (the 6th pick) and James Young (the 17th pick) arrived and were immedicately heralded as two of the most important young players added to the Celtics during this time period.  Unfortunately, neither has lived up to their desired production.
Smart averaged 7.8 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game during the 2014-15 season, and only improved to 9.1 points, 3.0 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game during the 2015-16 season. Young has been a complete bust for the Celtics. During the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, Young averaged 8.9 minutes, 2.2 points, 0.4 assists, and 1.1 rebounds per game.

The 2015-16 season was a big improvement for the Celtics, resulting in winning 48 games and losing 34 games. However, it ended in a similar way to the last season with the Celtics losing in the first round of the playoffs.
