The Philadelphia 76ers new training facility is going to be great for practice, but it’s going to be even better for boosting team morale.

The Philadelphia 76ers recently opened up a brand new training facility in Camden, New Jersey, just across the water from Philadelphia. It’s being dubbed as the best training facility in all of pro sports by people like Brett Brown.

There’s a ton within the facility that helps players become better athletes. Two full-length NBA regulation courts ensure that the team has a ton of space to work on drills and scrimmages during practices, hydrotherapy rooms are like some sort of space-age way of taking your body to the next level, and the facility also has innovation labs.

It really is next level, but the things that improve the players athletic abilities are not going to be the most important things. What’s going to be most important are the things that boost team morale.

The intangibles, that’s what’s important.

In a day where we seem to be all about measurements, statistics, and numbers, it’s important that we don’t forget about how things like relationships, team morale, and the intangibles help teams win, and get together as one.

The training facility helps that happen.

Nik Stauskas, speaking to Brian Seltzer during media day, talked about that and the sense of unity that seems to be coming along with the training facility.

"“As far as this just being a new year, I think this is a great start for us, having this facility here in Camden. I know all the guys are really excited to be in here. We kind of feel like this is a place where we can all come together and hang out.”"

The facility has a dining area, a player lounge, and those will be open to players during all hours of the day, even when they’re not practicing. So when players want to come in, get some shots up, or even just hang out with their teammates, they have a place to do that.

The Sixers need to be focused on building a good team, yes, but they can’t forget about the importance of team unity. Luckily, they haven’t, and the training facility and all the bonus pieces that come along with it will give them an edge in the new era of the NBA.
