Have You Seen Me? Philadelphia 76ers Robert Covington Missing In Action
By Bret Stuter
Despite opportunity to shine as a veteran on the new 76ers lineup, Robert Covington is noticeably absent from offensive stats
Sometimes we get it right. Sometimes we get it wrong. But nobody could have expected the vacuum of offense from the likes of Robert Covington this season. Nobody whose reputation is respectable, at least. Robert Covington seems to be lost or missing in the early part of the new NBA season.
Robert Covington was a cherished player to former president Sam Hinkie. And for good reason. His 13.5 points per game in the 2014-2015 season padded with 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.39 steals, and .44 blocks per game set him apart as a very versatile, and valuable player.
Covington followed that up with a 12.8 point, 6.3 rebound, 1.4 assists, 1.57 steals, .6 blocks per game season.
So far this season in 27 minutes per game? 4.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and .75 blocks per game. Meanwhile the Philadelphia 76ers are losing games by 6, 32, 2, and 14 points respectively. In those same games, Covington has scored 10, 0, 0, and 6 points.
