The Philadelphia 76ers are a young but tall team. In fact, in comparison, the team is the fourth tallest team in the NBA this year. So it falls to reason that the team should be pulling down rebounds among the top ten teams in the league?
If you follow that logic, you’d be wrong.

The reality of the matter is that the Philadelphia 76ers are in the bottom ten teams in the league, number 24 to be exact. Even more surprising, the same young and tall team is dead last in the NBA on offensive rebounds at 5.8 per game. That number is well over one less then the next team, the Portland Trailblazers, at 7.0.
The fact of the matter is that this is huge surprise. Sort of.
The 2015-2016 season ended with the Philadelphia 76ers dead last in the NBA in wins, and dead last in rebounds. It was a straightforward conclusion that the team needed to improve on the boards. In fact, we analyzed rebounds as a possible cause for the team’s struggles, and anticipated that the team would be markedly improved in the statistic this year.
