Philadelphia 76ers guard Nik Stauskas said he misses winning, and that he thinks the team is close to success in a recent break from his Twitter absence.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Nik Stauskas has, for the most part, stayed away from social media this season. He has said that part of his issues of being off his game early on in his career were because he would pay too much attention to what people were saying about him on social media. So he cut it out.

That is, until Christmas Eve.

Perhaps being a bit home sick as the Sixers are spending Christmas Day in Sacramento and away from any family that couldn’t make the trip, Stauskas took to Twitter to see if any of his followers had access to a gym that he could work out with during his day off.

After asking about any gym locations that might be available in Cali, Sauce Castillo stayed on to take some fan questions, something he used to do more of when he was back on Twitter regularly.

When one fan asked what Stauskas missed most about Michigan, he said that he mainly misses the winning. After all, Nik, who was very used to winning prior to coming to the NBA, has only won 42 times in three seasons with the Sacramento Kings and Sixers.

The wins are few and far between for a lot of the rebuilding teams in the NBA, and it seems like that took a toll on Nik. Perhaps that was a major reason he struggled so much early on in his career.

Nik also said that he’s overcome that need to win, admitting that success in the NBA is much harder than he anticipated it would be. He also chalked up some credit to trusting the process, something Sixers fans love to see.

Overall, though, Nik does think that his days of waiting for wins are over. One fan asked him when he thinks the Sixers will make the jump to competitiveness, and Nik said, “very very soon. Right around the corner.”

Among all the negatives we can take from this season so far — Jerryd Bayless being out for the season, Ben Simmons having yet to play, the Sixers still not trading any of their big men — it is great to see that a lot of the players truly believe success is right there for them to grab.

The mindset Stauskas has is clearly impacting his game in a positive way. Nik is averaging 9.5 points per game and shooting 38.9 percent from beyond the arc, both career highs for him if he keeps that pace up.

After the short question and answer session, Stauskas said he would be taking another break from Twitter.
