No Tank More Picks

The goal was never to “tank” but to discover players who were worth building the franchise around. Right now, the team has several who fit the bill. So the premise that the team is designed to fail… fails. But can the team succeed and continue to churn through prospects to claim franchise changing players? Yes.

The very premise dictates so. There is not presumption that the first pick of an NBA Draft will statistically be more successful at landing “THE GUY”. The premise remains that more picks equals a greater chance of finding that player, or continuing to find that caliber player.

There is no reason to stop searching if the team decides that Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and/or Dario Saric meet that criteria. In fact, the team can continue to search each and every year for “that guy”. Right now, the team has two players on international rosters: Furkan Korkmaz and Vasilije Micic. By doing so, the 76ers have retained the future rights to 17 players currently. Next year, the team can maintain two additional players via the new CBA two-way contracts.
