With a taste of success, and a bitter remains of defeat and bad health, the Philadelphia 76ers emerge with just enough optimism to anticipate incredible happenings in 2017-2018. But to realize that success, the Philadelphia 76ers front office Must do a far better job.

The Philadelphia 76ers fans must be ready for the lurch as the team kicks into overdrive. You see, it’s now or never. The team has witnessed the ability of Joel Embiid. If Ben Simmons delivers an equally adept performance on the basketball court, this team is two legs of the trio needed for a run at an NBA Championship team.

And the team has from five or six picks to find that third player in the 2017 NBA Draft. On paper, there are three 2017 NBA Draft first round picks.  But….

That’s Not A First Rounder Folks

Just to be fair, the books say that the Philadelphia 76ers have a top-20 protected first round pick from the Dallas Mavericks in the 2017 NBA Draft.  In real term, that means the Dallas Mavericks must finish as a  top-ten in the NBA this season.  I analyzed this, and it’s not happening folks.  In fact, for a solid refresher on what and where the Philadelphia 76ers WILL PICK in that 2017 NBA Draft, here’s a decent summary (click on this link).

The team will have plenty of picks. But can the team continue to churn the roster? Can the team continue to pull in the welcome mat on expiring contracts, and simply save roster salary by playing a team of rookies? Not if this team intends on winning.
