Reason IV: Lorenzo Romar Could Coach With Delaware 87ers

Lorenzo Romar struggled to find wins as the head coach of the University of Washington Huskies basketball team. But unlike the NBA, he was a virtual one man band, and the need to recruit oftentimes seemed to outweigh coaching existing players.

When a player needs to fix an injury or bad mechanics, he is sent down to the D-Leagues. Since much of the concern about Lorenzo Romar appears to be coaching defense and intensity on the court, why not rotate him through the Delaware 87ers?

The NBA has begun to change the rules, elevating the importance of a strong D-League team. That is likely just the tip of the iceberg. A coach like Lorenzo Romar would be a tremendous asset. He is the hand shake style coach. The 87ers are the new style analytics team, much like the 76ers.

It could work, and work very well.
