Similar to center logjam, the mythical perception is that the Philadelphia 76ers are desperate for any help in the back court. But don’t believe it. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot is ready to start the 2017-2018 season

Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot is very much like the month of March. He entered the NBA like a lion, and is emerging from his rookie season like a lamb. Or more appropriately, he entered the NBA completely raw. And after just one less than well traveled season, he is emerging with a legitimate claim to a starting role next season.

Entering the NBA as a rookie is not a seamless transition. In some cases, it merely means having your entire life uprooted, moved to a major US city, placed onto a very competitive career track where one false move could spell the meaningful end to your fragile career and dream of playing in the NBA.  And that is merely the lucky ones who move from a US college or university.

Turn and face the strange. To others, it’s a change of countries. It’s an entirely new language, new culture, new land. And it’s beyond the range of family support. In short, its complete and permanent upheaval.

It’s not unheard of. Military inscription does the same thing to the same age group, and has been for many years. So I’m not suggesting we hand out medals to young men who are signed to an NBA contract.
