New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are a team embroiled in controversy. Steaming chaos.  And that’s being kind. They are a bad team with the mirage of being good.  The 2015-2016 season set up the team to fail. And they did, right on cue.

The 2015-2016 Knicks discovered power forward Kristaps Porzingis. He and Carmelo Anthony led a rather balanced starting lineup that included Robin Lopez and Aaron Afflalo.  The team managed to address all positions via free agency or trade except the one that mattered most: the center position.

And therein lies the need.

How do you fix the team? One avenue could be to trade for Jahlil Okafor.  And the return? Well, the Knicks desperately want to unload Carmelo Anthony.  Would they, could they? You bet.

Just Melo Out, Bro!

The Knicks want rid of Carmelo Anthony. Despite his production at 22.4 points per game, team executive Phil Jackson feels Anthony could use a change of scenery. And if the Philadelphia 76ers open talks with the Knicks? Well, stranger things have happened

And so, two teams heading in different directions in need of a change of scenery for two significant players. Anthony solidifies the Philadelphia 76ers front court, giving the team an option to rotate in either Dario Saric or Robert Covington next season. And what would it take to get him?

Well, his salary is devastatingly rich, and therefore only a handful of teams could handle the salary impact. But the 76ers would be a great option, as the team could project to the playoffs next season, particularly with the offensive output of Anthony.  Think it could never happen?
