With their third pick of the first round the Portland Trail Blazers select another UCLA player and TJ Leaf’s front court teammate, Ike Anigbogu. I had a felling that Anigbogu would test the draft waters but I certainly didn’t think he’d hire an agent straight away, for a player that isn’t a first round lock I think going back to school to improve on his game would’ve been beneficial. He could easily become a lottery pick in a weaker 2018 Draft.
I can see a team reaching on Anigbogu because of his potential. The bigman only averaged 4.7 points per game and 4 rebounds per game, but he did only play 13 minutes a night. Does this lack of playing suggest that Anigbogu wasn’t ready for the college game. If so then he is certainly not ready for the NBA. He may spend much of his rookie season down in the D-League.
