Power Forward Options

The key to this role is a solid veteran who can take either starts or playing minutes, but who can mentor from a benching role as Saric and others develop. So while the early temptation is to enter the bidding wars on a younger veteran with upside, don’t look for that from the Philadelphia 76ers this year.

  • Bryan Colangelo has seen only one year out of rookie Dario Saric, and he has to be pleased so far with what he’s seen.

But the team has Saric, Shawn Long, and Alex Poythress, all of whom possess minimal NBA experience at the role.  Poythress is a more natural small forward, and as the team narrows the focus upon a veteran, you could expect him to compete at that position as well.

So who?  Well, the role is a veteran of many years.  Someone who has seen plenty of post season play.

A three point shot is a solid plus, but excellent defense would be a close second.  Now, let’s consider three free agent options who may fill that role at a high dollar short duration price.

    II  Ersan Ilyasova
III Luc Richard Mbah A Moute
