White Knight Deal

As we learned last year, the wrong way to make a deal is to announce that “we must make a deal”. Now it is the New York Knicks turn to learn that cruel lesson. The New York Knicks believe they can find Porzingis’ replacement this year in Lauri Markkanen.  Without the Celtics, Lakers or Suns agreeing to trade for Porzingis, they may have to.

But the fact remains that the Knicks need some team willing to take a disgruntled Kristaps Porzingis off their hands. And that White Knight team is ideally the Philadelphia 76ers.

Of all the teams in the mix, the Philadelphia 76ers have the most to gain and offer the Knicks. Porzingis is that player who got away.  This gives the team a chance to bring KP onto the roster. But it also gives the Knicks a chance to land a player they covet: Jahlil Okafor.
