Knicks have no easy solution

In March 2017, nobody believed Markelle Fultz would land with the Philadelphia 76ers. Today, nobody believe Kristaps Porzingis will arrive to the Philadelphia 76ers. But sometimes, strange events happen and the impossible transforms into history.  There is no “win” left for the Knicks at this point. The best the team and fans can hope for is the best of the bad outcomes.

The Philadelphia 76ers own the Knicks second round picks for years to come. Perhaps now is the team for the Knicks to bite the bullet, grab some 2017 second round picks and settle their debts on future picks  with the 76ers and start anew.

But the situation is getting dimmer all the time for the Knicks

The time for playing coy is past. Much like the Lakers path this offseason, the Knicks abandoned the draft and youth is the 2016 offseason and is now playing the hand that strategy dealt to them. The Knicks are stuck in NBA purgatory, and with Porzingis, the team has a chance to clear the debts with the 76ers, acquire young talent, and press forward.

The Philadelphia 76ers did not throw either Porzingis nor the Knicks fans overboard. But the team can throw them all a lifeboat. The rest is up to Phil Jackson.
