I was somewhat shocked by Frank Jackson’s decision to keep his name in the 2017 NBA Draft, I thought he would for sure go back to Duke. The only reason I can think of as to why he stayed in the draft is that he has maybe received a draft promise of getting selected in the first round.

At times at Duke, Jackson looked a little erratic, he’s not ready to be thrown into an NBA game just yet. He may spend some time down in the new G-League. When Jackson is ready to compete in the NBA, he won’t be rushed into a lot of action because of the Lakers already having Lonzo Ball manning the point guard position.

The Lakers will need to bring in some extra guards to come off their bench as after the trade with the Nets, the Lakers’ backcourt is looking pretty thin. Additionally, this low in the draft there aren’t many quality guards left, hence why Jackson should be the pick for the Lakers. I believe Jackson could become one of the best guards in the draft in a few years.
