Selecting Jonathan Isaac this high could be considered as a risk as he is a very raw project, possessing great physical tools. The Phoenix Suns are in need of some perimeter defence, Isaac’s 7-1 wingspan gives him the potential to be a lock-down defender. There’s no hiding the fact that this is a major boom-or-bust prospect.
Another reason to support Isaac going this high is the fact that he has only worked out for teams in the top four. This may be because he has received a promise from the Suns or Kings so he knows he won’t fall below four or five.
Isaac could be a potential power forward when his body eventually fills out. Standing at 6-11 and possessing a 7-1 wingspan, he has the tools to play the position. He already excels at grabbing rebounds, he averaged 12 rebounds per 40 minutes.
Having another scoring threat may be what Devin Booker needs to take his game to the next level. The Suns don’t have much scoring threats, meaning the defence can solely focus on shutting down Booker, if you leave Isaac open he’ll knock down that three ball.
