2017 NBA Mock Draft 3.0: Pre-Draft
By Owen Nelson
With the major knee injury to Zach LaVine, he may never possess the same elite athleticism again, Malik Monk would do a good job in filling the holes in LaVine’s game. LaVine and Monk would form a great two-guard tandem, both are athletic freaks and can shoot it from deep. Personally, I don’t see Monk being anything more than a career sixth man, he could become a better version of Lou Williams.
Malik Monk offers great shooting. He gives the Timberwolves another go-to scorer, something the Timberwolves haven’t got coming off the bench. Monk’s ability to heat up in no time is his most impressive attribute, he is never scared to launch a deep three when he’s feeling it.
There isn’t a glaring hole in the Timberwolves team but with Kris Dunn failing to live up to the expectation this season the Timberwolves shouldn’t be afraid of selecting another guard. Monk will also provide some much needed perimeter defence. Tom Thibodeau will love MaliK Monk.
