The Philadelphia 76ers should be watching the fallout of Irving’s trade request from the Cavaliers, because the King may start looking for a new home

For fans of the Philadelphia 76ers, the idea of LeBron James taking his talents to the Wells Fargo Center after the 2017-2018 season keeps getting stronger.

Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving requested a trade last week, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

Sources told Windhorst that Irving wants to be more of a focal point with a team and doesn’t want to play with James anymore.

What this means for the Sixers

The Cavaliers appear to be falling apart. The team let General Manager David Griffin walk after the finals, which seemed to be disappointing to both James and Irving.

More from The Sixer Sense

If this report is true, it would be hard to believe James would want to stay in Cleveland after next season.

It’s more than likely James will be looking for a new home and the Sixers may have a chance to be on his short list of teams.

Factors helping the Sixers

Since the Sixers are in the much weaker Eastern Conference, one would imagine that would be a big selling point to James.

Why would James want to move out West and face the best teams in basketball in the playoffs even before he would get to the finals.

The Sixers also have plenty of youth and talent on the roster. They may not have the all-star players on the roster that some other teams have but this is an exciting team on the rise.

Perhaps James sees Philadelphia as a new type of challenge he can add to his resume. Taking a team that has the worst record in the league over the past five seasons and put them back on the map would certainly be a big accomplishment.

None of us know what James is thinking at this moment but it appears his time with the Cavaliers may be coming to an end.

Next: What would you trade for James?

With the help of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, maybe they can convince James to come to Philly and help resurrect one the most historic franchises in the league.
